The review view is desktop-only
Opening a project, a shared link, a document, or a Tasks board on a phone or tablet shows a "Please use a desktop browser" screen instead of the review view. Reviewing means clicking precisely on small elements, reading a comments sidebar, and switching between breakpoints, and none of that works well on a small screen — so it is gated rather than shipped badly.
This applies to everything opened at app.huddlekit.com, including share links you send to clients. If a reviewer tells you the link "does not work on my phone", this is what they are seeing.
Getting the message on a desktop?
Phones and tablets are recognised as such, but the check also looks at the width of the browser window — anything narrower than 1024 pixels gets the message whatever it is running on. So a laptop or desktop hits it with a half-width window, a narrow split-screen, or a high browser zoom level.
If you are on a desktop and see the message:
- Maximize the browser window.
- Reset the page zoom to 100% (Cmd/Ctrl + 0).
- If you are running two windows side by side, give the Huddlekit window the full screen.
The review view appears as soon as the window is wide enough — there is nothing to reload or reset.
Collecting feedback from phones
Two things still work on a phone:
- The web app widget. A Web App project installs the Huddlekit widget on your own site, and the widget is not gated. Anyone visiting your site on a phone can open it and leave a comment. If you need clients or testers reviewing on their own devices, this is the way to do it.
- Email notifications. Replies and mentions arrive by email as usual and read fine on a phone. Following the link to the comment still needs a desktop.
Reviewing how a site looks on mobile
Checking a mobile layout does not require a mobile device. Open the project on a desktop and switch to the Mobile or Tablet breakpoint, or open canvas view to see every breakpoint at once. See Device and viewport previews.
Comments are tied to the breakpoint they were left at, so feedback on the mobile layout stays with the mobile view.
