What are custom tags?
Custom tags let you add labels to comments to categorize feedback beyond status and priority. For example, you might create tags to organize feedback in a way that fits your workflow.
Tags are defined at the workspace level and shared across all your projects, web apps, and documents.
Creating tags
Creating custom tags is a paid feature. On the Free plan, the Tags settings tab shows an upgrade option instead. Pro and Team plans include custom tags — see the Pricing page for details.
To create a tag on a paid plan:
- Go to your workspace Settings.
- Open the Tags tab.
- Click Create tag.
- Enter a name (up to 20 characters) and pick a color.
- Click Create.
You can edit or delete a tag at any time from the same settings page. Deleting a tag removes it from all comments that use it. If your workspace later moves to the Free plan, your existing tags stay usable — you just can't create new ones until you upgrade again.
Assigning tags to comments
Once you have created at least one tag, it will appear as a dropdown option in the comment dialog and edit form.
- Open a comment or create a new one.
- Click the tag icon to see your available tags.
- Select a tag to assign it. Select it again to remove it.
Tags can be assigned on website projects, web app projects (via the widget), and documents.
Who can use tags?
| Action | Who can do it |
|---|---|
| Create, edit, or delete tag definitions | Workspace owners and admins |
| Assign or remove tags on comments | All workspace members |
| See tag badges on comments | Everyone, including guests on shared links |
Guests can see which tags are assigned to a comment but cannot add or remove them.
Tags on the board
Tags appear on comment cards in a project's Tasks board, so you can spot categorized feedback at a glance while you review.
