Overview
Sometimes a comment needs a little more than text. You can attach images and PDFs directly to comments and replies so reviewers have all the context they need in one place — mockups, reference screenshots, annotated PDFs, or anything else that helps get your point across.
Attachments are available on website projects, web app projects, and media projects (images, PDFs, and videos).
Adding an attachment
- Open a comment dialog or reply field.
- Click the + button on the left side of the toolbar.
- Select one or more files from your device.
- A preview thumbnail will appear below the text field. You can remove a file before submitting by hovering over the thumbnail and clicking the X.
- Click Submit (or Reply) as usual.
You can attach up to 5 files per comment or reply. Images and PDFs are both supported.
Viewing attachments
Attachments appear as thumbnails below the comment or reply text. Click an image thumbnail to open a full-size lightbox where you can zoom in and inspect details. PDF attachments show a document icon — click to open the file directly.
Comments that have attachments also display a small paperclip badge in list views and on the tasks board so they are easy to spot at a glance.
Editing attachments
When you edit a comment or reply, you can:
- Remove an existing attachment by hovering over its thumbnail and clicking the X.
- Add new files using the same + button.
The 5-file limit applies to the total after your edits, so if a comment already has 3 attachments you can add 2 more.
File size limits
Each file has a maximum size that depends on your workspace plan — paid plans allow larger files than the Free plan. If a file is too large, Huddlekit tells you the maximum size for your plan when you try to upload it. For the limits included with each plan, see plans and pricing.
Attachments count toward your workspace storage, alongside the files in your media projects.
Who can attach files
Anyone who can leave a comment can attach files — workspace members and guests alike. If you are reviewing a project through a share link, you can add attachments the same way.
Good to know
- Attachments are permanently deleted when the parent comment or reply is deleted.
- You can attach files on the dashboard and on the web app widget embedded on your own site.
