What are folders?
Folders let you group related projects together so your workspace stays organized. A folder can hold any mix of your project types — websites, documents, and web apps — and each project can live in one folder at a time.
Folders are flat, which means you can't put a folder inside another folder.
Creating a folder
Creating folders is a paid feature. On the Free plan you'll see an upgrade prompt when you try to create one.
On a paid plan:
- In the sidebar, open the ... menu next to All projects.
- Click New folder.
- Enter a name (up to 80 characters) and click Create folder.
Folder names must be unique within your workspace. If you choose a name that's already taken, you'll be asked to pick another.
You can also create a folder while moving a project — the Move to folder window has its own New folder button.
Moving projects into a folder
- On a project card, open the ... menu.
- Click Move to folder.
- Choose the folder you want, then click Save changes.
A project can only be in one folder at a time. To take a project out of a folder, open Move to folder again and choose No folder — the project returns to your main projects list.
Browsing folders
Your folders appear as cards in a Folders section at the top of the projects page, above your ungrouped projects. Click a folder to open it and see everything inside.
From an open folder you can use the back arrow to return to All projects, or use the folder's ... menu to rename it, delete it, or add a New project directly inside it.
Renaming and deleting folders
Open a folder's ... menu and choose Rename or Delete.
Deleting a folder never deletes the projects inside it. When you delete a folder, its projects, media, and web apps move back to your main projects list — only the folder itself is removed.
Who can use folders
| Action | Who can do it |
|---|---|
| Create, rename, and delete folders | Workspace owners, admins, and members |
| Move projects in and out of folders | Workspace owners, admins, and members |
| Browse folders and their contents | All workspace members |
Folders live in the workspace view, so guests visiting through a share link don't see them.
Folders and archived projects
Folders organize your active projects. When you archive a project, it moves to your Archive and no longer appears inside its folder. Archived projects aren't shown in folders or folder views.
Folders after a downgrade
If your workspace moves to the Free plan, your existing folders aren't deleted — you can still open and browse them. Creating new folders becomes available again once you're on a paid plan.
